Man died of drug overdose in SAS Nagar, body found in crematorium

SAS Nagar: Sandeep Singh, a 27-year-old youth from Banur Ward No. 1, Haveli Bassi, died of drug addiction. His body was found in the Manakpur Kallar crematorium late in the evening. Two days before this, on February 9, 17-year-old youth Balwinder Singh of Naggal Salempur died of drug overdose.

Concerned by the deaths of these two youths, prominent people of the area have held a press conference and announced to fight against drugs. Tehal Singh, the father of the deceased Sandeep Singh, said that he had gone to work from home yesterday morning, but did not return home until late in the evening.

Late in the evening, the police received a call from Aerocity police station and said that the body of his son was lying in the Manakpur Kallar crematorium and he has been brought to Civil Hospital Phase-6, Mohali. Sandeep Singh was the only son of his parents and was married and  father of a one and a half year old girl.

His mother is a cancer patient. The police handed over the body to the family after conducting the postmortem. Police Station Chief Gursewak Singh Sidhu said that a case related to the Naggal Salempur incident has been registered and seven accused have been arrested and many more are on the police radar.
