Meeting of farmers and police officers in Patiala today: Opening Shambhu border to be discussed

Patiala: Due to the farmers’ agitation, the Shambhu border has been closed for six months. Due to this, people are also facing problems. This matter has now reached the Supreme Court. In the last hearing, the Supreme Court had asked Punjab and Haryana to partially open the border.

In this connection, an important meeting of senior officials of Punjab Police and farmers is going to be held in Patiala today. In this, a strategy will be made on this matter. Because on Thursday there is a hearing in the Supreme Court on this matter.

This meeting will be held in Patiala today afternoon. In this (Samyukta Kisan Morcha) non-political members will be involved. Farmer leaders Sarwan Singh Pandher and Jagjit Singh Dallewal are also expected to attend this meeting. At the same time, farmer organizations have also held their meeting in which a strategy will be made for the demonstration scheduled on August 31.

The last hearing in the case of Shambhu border was held on August 12. During this, the apex court has ordered to partially open the border. During the hearing, the Supreme Court made a strong comment that highways are not parking places. The Supreme Court ordered opening one lane of the highway for ambulances, senior citizens, women, students, etc. within a week.

For this, the DGPs of Punjab and Haryana as well as the SPs of Patiala, Mohali and Ambala were asked to take a decision on this by holding a meeting. The Supreme Court said that the case will be heard on August 22. However, the court said that if a consensus is reached between the police officers of Punjab and Haryana, then there is no need to wait for the date of hearing.
