Khanna: In a shocking incident, a mentally challenged youth climbed on the railway line canal bridge at Doraha in Khanna, Ludhiana. He first kept walking on the bridge and then suddenly jumped into the canal. Divers immediately pulled him out and saved his life. Railway police have started an investigation. In the initial investigation, it is revealed that the youth is mentally challenged and also seems to be a drug addict. Despite repeated questioning by the police, he did not tell his whereabouts.
A video of this youth’s act has also surfaced now. In the video, he can be seen walking on the bridge. Some people from the nearby are continuously calling out his name and trying to stop him. Meanwhile, divers also reached the spot.
Seeing people gathering, the youth jumped from the bridge. The divers too immediately jumped in the canal to pull out the person and saved his life with their quick response. After this, the Government Railway Police (GRP) took this person with them to Doraha outpost where he did not tell the police anything about his whereabouts.
ASI Himmat Singh on the incident said that this youth seems to be mentally ill. He also added that it also seems that youth was under the influence of narcotics. Efforts are being made to trace him and inform his family.
