Miscreants rob bookshop owner of Rs 1 lakh at gunpoint in Sahnewal

A motorcycle-borne two miscreants posed as customers and robbed an owner of a book shop of Rs 1 lakh in cash at gunpoint. According to the victim, the accused also took away some important documents along with them after locking the shop owner inside the shop.

The incident occurred at Satendra Book Depot which is located opposite to Gurudwara Somasar Sahib near Tibba gate in Sahnewal.

The shop owner Satendra Kumar of Lotus Enclave, Dehlon Road said that he was in the shop when two persons turned up while posing as customers and suddenly they flashed a pistol and demanded money.

Satendra added that the accused snatched away a bag containing Rs 1 lakh in cash and also stole some important documents.

He further added that the accused while fleeing locked him inside the shop and fled. “I thumped at the shutter multiple times following which other shopkeepers opened the shutter and then we alerted the police,” he said.

SI Harmeet Singh, investigating officer, said that the police have initiated investigation into the matter and as the incident has been captured in a CCTV camera, the police have procured the footage and are trying to trace the accused.

He said that an FIR has been registered against unidentified accused under section 304 of BNS and 25, 27, 54 and 59 of Arms Act.
