Bathinda: Near Station Cantt in Bathinda, an Alto car was suddenly overtaken and surrounded by people riding a Scorpio car coming from behind. Half a dozen youths riding a Scorpio attacked the driver of the Alto car with sticks and iron rods and seriously injured him; one of his companions saved his life by running away from the spot.
At the same time, the youth riding a Scorpio tried to crush the car driver by running the Scorpio over him, due to which one of his legs and one of his arms broke. As soon as the information of the incident was received, volunteer Yadvinder Kang of the social service organization Naujwan Welfare Society Bathinda reached the spot with an ambulance and immediately took the injured to the civil hospital. The injured has been identified as Baldev Singh (55 years), son of Ajmer Singh, a resident near AIIMS Hospital Bathinda.
Regarding the case, eyewitnesses say that there was a dispute over not giving way; on the other hand, the injured car driver said that there was no such thing. On getting information about the case, the police on the spot said that the number of the attackers’ cars had been noted. Investigation into the case has been started.
