Patiala: A case of rape of a four-year-old girl by a youth living in the neighbourhood has come to light in a colony on Rajpura Road under Kotwali Patiala area. When the condition worsened, the victim girl was admitted to Rajindra Hospital late at night. After this, the police were informed, and the Kotwali police registered an FIR against the accused, Sarwan Kumar (age 18 years), after obtaining the statement of the family. After registering the case, the police officers have arrested the accused. The accused used to work as a daily wage labourer.
According to the statement of the girl’s family, they work as labourers, and the accused lives in a rented room in their building. The courtyard of this building is shared, where children often play. On Sunday evening, the four-year-old girl was playing in the courtyard. During this time, the accused took the girl to the room on the pretext of getting an opportunity. When the accused did wrong to the girl in the room, the girl started screaming due to pain. After hearing the girl’s crying, the accused fled from the spot. The police later arrested him.
SHO of Kotwali police station Harjinder Singh said that the accused has been arrested.
