Shahkot: In a shocking incident, The nephew of Congress MLA from Shahkot constituency in Jalandhar, Punjab, Ladi Sherowalia, died in a road accident in Canada. Jalandhar-based youth, has been identified as Jasmer Singh. Jasmer Singh’s father Ajmer Singh Khalsa is also into Politics and is a senior Congress leader.
Shahkot constituency MLA and District Congress Committee President Hardev Singh alias Ladi Sherowalia and Ajmer Singh’s family are in shock. According to the information received, Jasmer Singh had gone to Canada with a friend for an ATV ride in the hilly area, where he died in the accident.
Sugar Mill Nakodar Chairman Ashvinder Singh and the deceased’s brother Santokh Singh Khaira said that Jasmer Singh had gone to the mountains for ATV riding with his other friend Amandeep Singh Kahlon resident Amritsar. When he was returning after the ride, the bike lost balance and both of them fell into a 300-foot-deep gorge.
Both the youths were taken to the hospital by air ambulance, where doctors declared Jasmer Singh dead and started treatment of seriously injured Amandeep Singh.
Last rites to be performed in India
According to the family, Jasmer Singh’s wife and children had come to India and were present at Delhi airport to return to Canada. Then they got the news of Jasmer Singh’s tragic death. He said that Jasmer Singh’s last rites will be performed in Sahla Nagar, Malasian Shahkot. Preparations are being made to bring Jasmer’s body to India soon after which his last rites will be performed in his ancestral village in India according to Sikh rituals.
