Nephew stabs Uncle to death over land dispute, accused arrested

Jalandhar: The nephew had killed his uncle in a land dispute near Shahkot town in Jalandhar, Punjab. The police have arrested the accused nephew and his three accomplices are still absconding.

The police will soon produce the arrested accused in the court and take him on remand and interrogate him about the absconding accused. The accused was absconding with his family since the murder of uncle Lakhveer Singh alias Lakha (65). The family had performed the last rites of the accused after getting assurance of their arrest.

Lakhveer Singh alias Lakha was having a land dispute with his elder brother’s sons. Nephew Jaswinder Singh used to prevent uncle Lakhveer Singh from irrigating the fields and going to the well. A case was also going on between the two regarding the land dispute.

Lakhveer Singh was roaming in the fields at around 10 am yesterday, when suddenly his nephews coming out of the maize field attacked him. The accused nephew stabbed him several times with a knife and injured him. After the incident, the accused fled from there.

According to the information, when the villagers saw Lakha in an injured state, they immediately informed the family about the matter. After which Lakha was admitted to the government hospital in Shahkot for treatment. Where seeing his critical condition, he was immediately referred to a private hospital.

Lakhveer Singh died during treatment in the hospital. In this case, the police had registered a case against nephews Tirth Ram and Sarabjit (both), their mother Indrajit Kaur and Sukhjit Singh.
