NSA extended for 1 year on newly elected MP Amritpal Singh and 9 others

Chandigarh: The NSA (National Security Act) on Amritpal Singh, the head of ‘Waris Punjab De’ and newly elected Member of Parliament from Khadoor Sahib, has been extended for one more year in Dibrugarh Jail of Assam.

NSA has also been extended on other associates of Amritpal Singh including Papalpreet, Pradhanmantri Bajeke, Daljit Kalsi. Last year in the month of March, NSA was imposed on all of them and they were sent to Dibrugarh Jail.

It is worth mentioning that in the recently held Lok Sabha elections, Amritpal Singh has won from Khadoor Sahib constituency with more than 2 lakh votes. In such a situation, speculations were being made regarding his coming out to take oath, but with the government’s one-year increase in NSA, the speculation has increased again whether he will come out of jail to take oath or not?

He was arrested by the Punjab Police in 2023
