Patiala: Health Minister Balbir Singh meets kin of Manvi, orders inquiry

Patiala: In the case of the death of 10-year-old girl Manvi due to suspected food poisoning after eating cake in Patiala, Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh has ordered an inquiry to the Health Secretary. Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh met the family and assured proper action in the case.

He said that the persons responsible for this will not be spared. Apart from this, necessary steps have been taken to ensure that such a situation does not arise again in the state.   

Health Minister also said that the alleged cake after eating which Manvi lost her life will be checked in the food safety lab of the Punjab government.

In a tragic incident, Manvi, a 10-year-old girl from Aman Nagar area of Patiala, celebrated her birthday on March 24. The family ordered a cake through online food delivering app Zomato. The girl and her entire family fell ill after consuming the alleged poisoned cake. The situation of the 10-year-old become so worse that she alleged lost her life after eating that cake.

As per the family they ordered cake online from bakery named ‘Kanha Bakery’ on Zomato. After eating the cake, the condition of Manvi and other family members worsened. Everyone was facing the problem of vomiting.

Manvi’s health deteriorated following which she was taken to hospital where she was declared dead.
