Punjab: People are being cheated in the name of paying electricity bills online in Ludhiana. Online links are being sent by the fraudsters. As soon as people click on that link, money is withdrawn from their bank account.
One such case has come from the area Model House under Model Town police station. The special thing is that the police has registered a case of this fraud which took place in November 2022 after a full 20 months.
Giving information to the police, the victim Daljit Singh said that on November 21, 2022, he received a call from the number 7735372922 on his mobile number 9988824241. The person talking told him to deposit the electricity bill of his house online. He will send a link, by clicking on it, the bill can be deposited.
According to the victim Daljit Singh, as soon as he opened the link sent by the fraud, his phone got hanged. After some time, 5 lakh 74 thousand 676 rupees were withdrawn from his account through 6 entries. He immediately informed the Model Town police station about this matter.
After 20 months of investigation, the police have registered a case against the accused Manish South West Delhi, Vijay Singh Chauhan Jaipur, Ajay resident Panchkula, Prakash Parakshka resident Odisha under Section IPC Act 420, 120-B, 66-D IT.
