Fazilka: Residents receive threatening calls from Pakistan; ransom demands and arrest threat of sons

Fazilka: People in Fazilka are getting calls from Pakistan numbers. It is being said that we have arrested your son. If you want no action taken against him, then money should be sent to his account. Otherwise, action will be taken against his son. Due to this, there is an atmosphere of fear among the area’s people. The victims have made a complaint to the police in this regard.

Ajay Kumar Wadhwa, a confectionery shopkeeper in Meharia Bazaar, said that he received a call from Pakistan. First, he was called by his name; he did not know the caller. Then they said that we have arrested your son. Then he called his son and understood that this call was made without any reason to extort money. After which the said person disconnected the call. However, the photo of a Punjab police officer has been put on the WhatsApp number.

At the same time, Ranjeet Singh, who works as a tailor on Gaushala Road, said he was present at his shop when he received a call from a Pakistan number. The caller called him by name and told him his son’s name. He said that they had arrested his son. One and a half lakh rupees should be sent to his account, or action will be taken against him. But his son was sitting next to him. Then he understood that this call was made to extort money. He appealed to the administration to put a check on these mischievous people and find out how people from outside numbers are finding out about him and his family.

Fazilka DSP Shubeg Singh says that at present he has not received any such complaint. But he has appealed to the people of the area to be cautious about such fraud calls.
