People’s woes continues as PSPCL employees strike enters fifth day

Ferozepur: Today is the fifth day of the strike of Powercom workers in Punjab. If the demands are not accepted by the Punjab government, the employees of the department will intensify their protest against the government. The mass leave protest was already extended by the workers for five days. The main demands of the electricity employees include that the workers who died while on duty should be given the status of martyr and financial assistance of rs one crore rupees should be given to kin of the deceased.

Meanwhile, due to the strike of the electricity employees of Ferozepur, the people got angry and blocked the road in Bharat Nagar, Shanti Nagar and Housing Board Colony of Ferozepur since morning. People surrounded the powerhouse and the electricity employees called the police on the spot.

Common people say that water is not being supplied since there is no light. “If you call Axion, they say for calling private people,  linemen are not being allowed to fix it, what is the public’s fault in this”, protesting common people asked raising question on the strike of PSPCL workers.

On the other hand, the electricity employees said that they have some long-held demands,  for which they are on strike.  “We are also sorry for this, but the government is not ready to listen, our demands should be accepted only then the strike will end, said PSPCL worker.”

It should be noted that the main demands of the sub-station staff are that promotion time from RTM to ALM should be reduced and OC, sub-station staff should be given security and overtime. The allowances reissued by the Punjab Government should be implemented from 2021 onwards. Third-scale promotion should be relied upon, recruitment should be done on vacant posts, and recruitment from other states should be banned in Powercom.
