Bathinda: A serious case of attack on a team of Bathinda Police by locals has come to light in Punjab’s Fazilka district. The incident is from Halimwala village, where a police team from Goniana police station in Bathinda had gone to arrest an accused in a case.
According to SHO Angrez Kumar of Arniwala police station, SI Mohandeep Singh along with his team had reached Halimwala village in a private vehicle in search of the accused in a case registered at Nehianwala police station in Bathinda.
Based on information received from the informant, the team found the accused Harpreet Singh and Jaspreet Singh. When the police tried to arrest him, the people present at the spot attacked the police team.
The attackers not only tore the uniforms of the police personnel but also tried to snatch their carbines and obstructed them from performing their duty. Following this incident, Arniwala Police Station in Fazilka has registered a case against Paramjit Kaur, Gaganpreet Kaur, Gurpreet Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Ramlal, Gurjit Singh, Gurbhej Singh and Harpreet Singh. The accused, who also include two women, have started an investigation into the matter.
