Pray for brotherhood: Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann extends greetings on Eid-ul-Fitr

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann extended greetings on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr with the people of the state. He took to X and shared his best wishes with people celebrating the festival.

Praying that Mutual brotherhood remains in the country, he extended wishes on the holy day of Eid-ul-Fitr. He said, “Congratulations to all of you on the holy day of Eid-ul-Fitr… We pray that mutual brotherhood and commonality will always remain in our country”

Festival of Eid

Eid ul-Fitr is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic lunar calendar. The festival is of great significance due to the moon sighting which has been part of Islamic culture for a long time. It is believed that Prophet Muhammad used to wait for news of sightings of the crescent moon as it indicated the beginning of a new month.
