Punjab: 51 trains affected after rail accident; 7 trains cancelled, routes of many diverted

Fatehgarh Sahib : After the train accident that took place between Sadhugarh and Sirhind in Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab at 4 am on Sunday, Northern Railways has released control room numbers.

Information can be obtained on Ludhiana’s 94178-83569, Jalandhar 81461-39614, Amritsar 74969-66206, Pathankot 94637-44690 and Jammu Tawi’s 019124-70116.

51 trains have been affected in the train accident, whose information has also been shared by the Railways. According to the Railways, the route of trains from Rajpura, Patiala and Dhuri has been changed. Some other trains have also been diverted via Chandigarh.

Kolkata-Amritsar Special Summer Train Collided

According to the information, a coal laden train was standing at the New Sirhind station of the Dedicated Freight Corridor, which was to be sent to Ropar.

On the same track, another coal laden train came from behind, which collided with the already standing coal freight train from behind. Due to this, the engine of the freight train overturned.

Meanwhile, the Kolkata-Amritsar Special Summer Express (04681) left from Ambala towards Ludhiana. When this train reached near New Sirhind station, its speed was slow.

During this time 2 freight trains collided. When the engine overturned after the collision, it collided with the passenger train. Ambala division DRM Mandeep Singh Bhatia and other railway officials have reached the spot and are engaged in investigation.
