Chandigarh: The campaigning for the by-elections in 4 assembly constituencies of Punjab, including the general elections for the legislative assemblies of Maharashtra and Jharkhand states, has been going on for the last 3 weeks, which will close at 6 pm today according to the election code.
For polling in four assembly constituencies, 831 polling stations have been set up in Dera Baba Nanak, Chabewa, Barnala and Giddarbaha, of which more than 250 booths have been brought under sensitive and special security. .
Booths which are located near the India-Pakistan border, have been kept under extreme vigilance for which the Central Force has also been deployed. More than 4200 civil polling staff have been deployed in these 4 constituencies, who will reach their respective booths on Tuesday evening, November 19, and the voting process will continue on Wednesday, November 20, from 7 am to 6 pm. Counting of votes will be held on November 23.
All manner of webcasting, videography, 3 flying saucers per constituency, survey teams, and a total of 10 observers have been deployed at 831 polling stations. He said that 4 Deputy Commissioners, 5 SSPs, more than 20 Tehsildars and DSPs, along with the Chief Electoral Officer are continuously connected with the headquarters through phone and video communication.
