Chandigarh: In the cabinet meeting of the Punjab government held today (13 March), it has been decided that the budget session of the Punjab government will start from 21 March and will continue till 28 March. While the budget of the Punjab government will be presented on 26 March. The budget will be debated on 27 and 28 March.
This information was given by Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema in a press conference after the cabinet meeting. He said that if needed, the dates of the budget session can be extended further.
Cheema said that it has been decided in the meeting that forty new Hunar schools will be established so that the youth do not face any problem in getting higher education. At the same time, a two-year agreement has been approved with the British Council to teach English to children.
This is how the budget session will run
The budget session will begin with the speech of Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on 21st March. After this, his address will be discussed. There will be a holiday on Saturday and Sunday in between. After this, various issues will be discussed on 24th and 25th March. During this time, there can be a discussion on drug addiction, agriculture and industries. After this, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema will present the budget on 26th March. After this, the budget will be discussed for two days. The government is busy preparing the budget. However, the Finance Minister did not say anything about the budget.
These sectors will remain in focus
The government has not yet clarified which sectors will be the focus of the budget. But the government fixes the budget for every sector in the budget. But the ruling Aam Aadmi Party had guaranteed to give one thousand rupees to women before coming to power. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has said in response to questions from the media that one thousand rupees will be given. Arrangements will be made in the budget for this. Apart from this, special funds can be kept for de-addiction. Along with this, provisions will also be made in the budget for police, education sector, industries and senior citizens.
