Chandigarh, June 15: The weather has changed in Punjab and Chandigarh. It has been drizzling and windy in many areas since morning. The temperature in the state has dropped by 0.7 degrees Celsius in 24 hours. People who have been facing severe heat and heat waves for a week have got some relief.
However, the temperature in Punjab still remained 3.1 degrees Celsius above normal. Bathinda recorded the highest temperature of 43.8 degrees Celsius, while Chandigarh recorded 42.2 degrees Celsius. There will be no major change in the maximum temperature for the next 24 hours. After this, the state is likely to see a gradual drop of 3-5 degrees Celsius.
Possibility of rain in seven districts
The cyclonic circulation of air is now located over western Rajasthan and adjoining Pakistan. At the same time, the western disturbance is also active. In such a situation, there is a possibility of light rain at different places in Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar and SAS Nagar districts.
At the same time, there is a possibility of heat waves and hot nights at isolated places in Amritsar, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Fazilka, Muktsar, Bathinda, Mansa, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Moga, Barnala, Sangrur and Ludhiana districts.
Thunderstorm/lightning/strong winds (40-50 kmph) are likely at isolated places over Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Mohali and Patiala districts.
The weather will remain like this till June 18
There will be no significant change in maximum temperature for the next 24 hours and thereafter there will be a gradual drop of 03-05 degree Celsius in the state. Light to moderate rain is likely at isolated places till June 18 and thereafter light to moderate rain is likely at some places in the state.
Hot weather is expected at isolated places today at night. At the same time, there is a possibility of thunderstorm/lightning/strong wind (speed 40-50 kmph) at some places during this period.
