Punjab fully prepared for COVID: No cases yet; Govt urges no need to panic

Chandigarh, May 25: The Punjab government has started preparing a strategy to deal with the new variant of COVID-19. Corona testing has started in all district hospitals and medical colleges (five government and eight private institutions). However, no coronavirus case has been reported so far. Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh said that people need not worry about the new variant of COVID-19. This virus is not as deadly as the previous one.

Ready to deal with any emergency

The Health Minister said that cases have been reported in Delhi, Kerala and Haryana. However, he said that JN.1 is a mild variant. It is not a serious disease. Of all the patients who have come from other states, more than 98% have been discharged. As far as Punjab is concerned, it is ready to fight any kind of emergency.

Whether there is a war casualty from the fight with Pakistan some time ago or Covid comes, we are fully prepared. The minister assured the people that there is no need to worry. People need not panic.

It is necessary to wear a mask and maintain social distancing

Dr. Gilada says that the situation is not going to be like before, but one should wear a mask and keep hands clean. If the infection increases around you, then one should try to maintain social distancing. One should avoid shaking hands or hugging. ‘The infection affects the elderly or those who have other diseases more.

Those who have a cough for a longer period should be more careful.’ However, other arrangements are being made.
