Punjab government new initiative: Helpers in road accident will be honored under Farishte Scheme

Chandigarh: In Punjab, helpers who take people injured in road accidents to hospital will no longer be stopped by any police personnel for any action. Nor will they be harassed in any way. This order has been issued by Punjab Police to SSPs and Commissioners of all districts. Such people will be honored with thousand rupees and a certificate under Farishte Scheme.

Step taken to bring helpers forward

The government is very serious about ensuring that people injured in road accidents in the state get immediate help. On one hand, Road Safety Force has been formed. On the other hand, initial treatment of the injured in hospitals has been made free. But it came to the notice of the officers that people want to help the injured people in accidents. But due to police action or interrogation etc., people back out from this work. This is why this step has been taken.

Earlier 13 people used to die in a day

Earlier in Punjab 13 people used to die in road accidents every day. But after this the Punjab government started working to improve this situation.

The accident prone areas were investigated by conducting a survey of the roads of the entire Punjab. After this those flaws were rectified. Then a road safety force was formed. At the same time, facilities have been increased in hospitals. After this the situation has started improving.
