Chandigarh: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab government has transferred Rs 19.83 crore to the bank accounts of 17,007 farmers who did direct sowing of paddy (DSR) during the season 2023.
Giving information in this regard, Punjab Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian said that during the year 2023-24, a total of 19,114 farmers have registered 1,72,049 acres area on DSR portal.
S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian said that The Punjab government led by Bhagwant Singh Maan has encouraged farmers to adopt DSR method to save the underground water. During the current year (2023-24), the state government had announced an incentive of Rs 1500 per acre to the farmers doing direct sowing of paddy. Now this amount has been directly transferred to the accounts of the beneficiary farmers.
