Punjab: Heat wave alert alert in all districts; Temperature of 13 cities crosses 44

Chandigarh : There is severe heat in Punjab. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heat wave in 13 districts and a yellow alert in 10 districts for today. At the same time, winds are expected to blow at a speed of 30-40 kilometers per hour. The temperature of 13 cities has crossed 44 degrees.

Bathinda has been the hottest with a temperature of 46.9 degrees. However, there is a possibility of western disturbance becoming active between June 19 and 21. This may cause drizzle. At the same time, there has been a 43 percent increase in power consumption. In June last year, the demand for electricity was 11309 MW, which has increased to 15775 MW.

Temperature of the districts in last 24 hours

According to the Meteorological Department, there has been a drop of -0.1 degrees in temperature in 24 hours. However, this is 6.8 degrees more than the normal temperature.

In 24 hours, the maximum temperature of Amritsar was recorded at 45.8, Ludhiana 44.6, Patiala 45.4, Pathankot 45.8, Bathinda 45.4 degrees. Whereas Gurdaspur recorded 45.0, ABS Nagar 43.3, Faridkot 46.0, Fatehgarh Sahib 43.9, Ferozepur 44.3, Jalandhar 43.3, Ludhiana 46.5, Moga 44.1, Mohali 43.8 and Ropar 43.5 degrees.

Heat wave and strong winds will blow in these districts

An orange alert has been issued for Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Fazilka, Muktsar, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Barnala, Mansa and Sangrur. While there is a yellow alert for Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Moga, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala, Mohali and Malekotla.

The weather department has advised people to stay indoors during the afternoon. While severe heat conditions have been reported in Amritsar, Bathinda and Patiala. Heat wave conditions have been reported in Pathankot, Halwara, Gurdaspur and Bathinda.
