Major Drug Crackdown in Jalandhar: 5 Nabbed, 5.3 Kg Heroin & Illegal Arms Seized

Jalandhar, July 03: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking and illegal firearms, the Commissionerate Police Jalandhar arrested five individuals and recovered 5 kg 314 gm of heroin, 2 kg of opium, one desi pistol (.32 bore), and six live cartridges, as part of its continued campaign to make the city crime-free.

Divulging the details, CP Jalandhar, Smt. Dhanpreet Kaur said that on July 1, 2025, a Crime Branch team was stationed near Nakha Wala Bagh Chowk, en route to Dashmesh Nagar. During that Police team apprehended a suspicious individual, identified as Harpal Singh alias Pala, son of Balbir Singh, resident of Bhalla Colony, Cheharta, Amritsar. The Police team recovered 5 kg 56 gm of heroin from him. Consequently, FIR No. 100 dated 02.07.2025, under Sections 21C, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act, was registered at PS Bhargo Camp, Jalandhar. Notably, the accused already has one case registered against him in the Amritsar City.

In a parallel operation on the same day, a team from the CIA staff, while on routine patrolling in the Transport Nagar area, apprehended three individuals:

• Sushil Kumar alias Sujal, son of Ramesh Kumar, resident of Udamadh Tanda, Hoshiarpur
• Mandeep Singh, son of Joginderpal, resident of Green Avenue, Deep Nagar, Jalandhar
• Gagandeep Singh, son of Kuldeep Singh, resident of Village Talwandi Mangey Khan,
Ferozepur

The Police team recovered 2 kg opium from their possession. Accordingly, FIR No. 157 dated 01.07.2025, u/s 18, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act, was registered at PS Division No. 8, Jalandhar. It was also revealed that accused Sushil Kumar has two previous cases pending under the NDPS Act.

In yet another success on June 30, 2025, a Special Cell team, while patrolling the Maqsudan–Nandanpur Road area, noticed a suspicious person near Ashok Nagar. Upon interception and checking, the police recovered 258 gm of heroin, a desi pistol .32 bore, and six live cartridges from his possession.

The accused was identified as Harjinder Singh alias Gora, son of Kashmir Singh, resident of House No. 24, Navyug Colony, Maqsudan, Jalandhar. A case was registered under FIR No. 115 dated 30.06.2025, under Sections 25, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act and Section 21 of the NDPS Act, at PS Division No. 1, Jalandhar. Harjinder Singh already has four criminal cases pending against him under various sections.

Commissionerate Police Jalandhar reiterated its’s firm resolve to dismantle drug networks and take strict action against habitual offenders to ensure a safe and drug-free Jalandhar.
