Chandigarh, July 19: There is an atmosphere of excitement in the state regarding the land pooling policy recently introduced by the Punjab government, while in some places, farmer organisations have announced to take out a tractor march against this scheme.
In fact, under the scheme, the government will no longer directly acquire the land of the farmers and give them compensation, but will provide residential and commercial plots on the same land to the farmers who give land. While the Aam Aadmi Party government has termed this scheme as unprecedented, the opposition, including the farmer organisation Samyukta Kisan Morcha, has criticized it.
The AAP government says that there is an atmosphere of enthusiasm among the farmers of the state regarding the land pooling scheme. The party has said that the opposition is spreading lies about this scheme out of frustration and is opposing it. There is tremendous panic in the builder lobby due to this policy. Due to the Urban Development Plan of the Punjab Government, world-class sectors will now be developed in the cities.
CM Bhagwant Mann’s government claims that the farmers who are giving their land are calling this scheme a ‘profitable deal’. Farmers say that this is the first time that they are getting a direct share in urban development schemes without land acquisition. This is the reason that thousands of farmers in districts like Patiala, Mohali, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Mansa, and Ferozepur have agreed to give their land to the government.
Under this scheme, farmers have to give their land to the government on their own will. After giving one acre of land under the land pooling policy, farmers will get a 1000-yard residential plot and a 200-yard SCO commercial plot. Farmers can not only sell these plots anytime but can also earn a profit by building housing projects or market complexes themselves. You say that this is not only opening new avenues of income for farmers, but they are also getting direct participation in real estate. Also, there will be no need to pay commission to property dealer agents.
It is reported that in the first week in Patiala, farmers have agreed to give 150 acres of land, and in Mohali also more than 50 farmers have also agreed to give their land to the government. Positive response is also being received from farmers in districts like Amritsar, Moga, Sangrur, Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, Hoshiarpur, Tarn Taran, Fazilka, Kapurthala and Bathinda.
Why did the United Kisan Morcha announce a tractor march against the policy?
The United Kisan Morcha passed a resolution in the all-party meeting against the land pooling policy of the Mann government. The proposal has been sent to the government. Along with this, SKM will take out a tractor march on July 30 in protest against the four proposals brought in the all-party meeting including the new land pooling policy of the Mann government. During this, 10 political parties except the Aam Aadmi Party were part of the all-party meeting. After passing the proposal to cancel the land pooling policy in the meeting, farmer organizations said that this policy is in favor of real estate companies and against the farmers.
