Bathinda, June 22: Today, bulldozers were used on illegal encroachments of drug smugglers in Bathinda. Today, the civil administration and police took joint action in Dhobiana Basti, notorious for drug smuggling. Two houses built by illegally encroaching on the land of Bathinda Development Authority (BDA) were demolished.
Earlier also two houses have been demolished in this area. Many cases of drug trafficking are registered against the people whose houses have been demolished. SPD Jasmeet Singh said that under the government’s campaign, action will continue against the illegal properties of drug smugglers.
SDM Balkaran Singh Mahal said that notices are being issued continuously to those doing illegal construction. Earlier, illegal encroachments happened due to lack of employees. Now, if anyone does illegal encroachment, action will be taken against the concerned employees and officers as well.
The Punjab government is continuously cracking down on drug trafficking and illegal encroachments in Dhobiana Basti. This area is known as a drug hotspot in Bathinda. The BDA had already issued notices to illegal occupants.
