Punjab Police Launches 'CASO' Search Operation Against Anti-Social Elements Under DGP's Direction

Patiala: Today, under the campaign against anti-social elements, the Punjab Police, led by Special DGP Ishwar Singh, conducted a search operation (CASO) at 38 locations across the district. DIG Patiala Range Mandeep Singh Sidhu and SSP Dr. Nanak Singh were also present at the event. At the Patiala railway station, Special DGP Ishwar Singh informed that the operation was carried out from 11 AM to 3 PM under the instructions of Punjab Police Chief Gaurav Yadav.

During this time, 50 police teams searched crowded areas, including railway stations, bus stands, malls, and parking areas throughout the district. DIG Mandeep Singh and SSP Dr. Nanak Singh reported that 121 religious sites, 5 railway stations, 9 bus terminals, and 55 hotels and inns were inspected.

They mentioned that 26 inter-state and inter-district checkpoints were established, and 190 individuals with past criminal records were checked. SSP Dr. Nanak Singh added that they recovered 80 bottles of liquor from Haryana, 10 grams of narcotic powder, and 50 grams of other drugs. He stated that four cases were registered under the NDPS Act and four under the Excise Act, leading to the arrest of 7 individuals.

Additionally, 20 vehicles were seized. He emphasized that under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership, this search operation aims to ensure better law and order and a safer society, registering 8 cases under the NDPS and Excise Acts and making 7 arrests.

To curb crime, they are increasing blocking, foot patrols, and PCR vehicle patrols in identified hotspots, with a strong emphasis on CCTV surveillance. They are also cracking down on drug sales near educational institutions, using technical means to target major drug traffickers and anti-social elements.
