Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has said in a statement issued on Monday that Rs 5421 crore has been released to the state to strengthen the railway infrastructure in Punjab. The Railway Minister said through video conferencing – This year Punjab has been given 24 times more funds than in 2009-2014.
Union Minister Vaishnav further said – 30 Amrit stations are being developed in Punjab at a cost of Rs 1122 crore and 34 Amrit stations in Haryana at a cost of Rs 1149 crore.
Renovation of stations is going on in these districts of Punjab
Let us tell you that renovation work is going on at dozens of railway stations in Punjab. Amrit stations are being developed at many places including Abohar Railway Station, Amritsar Station, Anandpur Sahib, Beas, Bathinda, Fazilka, Ferozepur, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar Cantt Railway Station, Phillaur, Ludhiana, Mansa and Malerkotla. Work is going on in full swing under the supervision of the Center.
The minister said that keeping security in mind, Rs 1,16,000 crore has been allocated for expenditure in this year’s budget. Work will be done in mission mode to upgrade old tracks and armoured security systems.
The Union minister said that since 2014, 382 km of new tracks have been laid in Punjab which is more than the entire rail network of the Philippines.
