Punjab Govt’s big move: 18 senior police officers posted to jails to make prisons more secure and drug-free

The government has promoted 18 experienced officers of the Punjab Police and posted them in the prison department.

Jalandhar, July 19: The Punjab government has taken strict steps to control crime, drug abuse and gangster activities in prisons. The government has promoted 18 experienced officers of the Punjab Police and posted them in the prison department. Efforts will be made to further strengthen security and discipline in prisons by posting these officers. The government has promoted police officers one rank above their current post and sent them to prisons.

The first officers to be promoted from AIG to DIG include three officers. These include Manmohan Kumar (PPS), Satvir Singh (PPS) and Daljit Singh (PPS). They will be deployed in jails by the government. Also, five SP rank officers have been made jail superintendents. These include Ajay Raj Singh, Gaganesh Kumar, Pradeep Singh Sandhu, Mukhtiyar Rai and Simranjit Singh.

Ten inspectors were made deputy superintendents

At the same time, 10 inspectors have been included in the Deputy Superintendent (Jail Grade-2) by the Punjab Government. The names of three women inspectors are also included in this list. The names of Asha Rani, Kamaljit Singh, Gurpyar Singh, Aman, Ravi Kumar, Preetinder Singh, Gurinderpal Singh, Simranpreet Kaur, Manjit Kaur and Jagdev Singh are included in the list.

These officers will be posted in different jails so that strict vigilance can be maintained there and the jails can be made crime and drug-free. The government believes that the deployment of experienced police officers will bring discipline and strictness in the jails and there will be better control over criminals.
