Chandigarh, July 26: A controversy has arisen over the 144 Toyota Hilux vehicles purchased by the Punjab government for the Sadak Suraksha Force (SSF). BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa alleged a scam of crores in this purchase and said that no discount was taken on even a single vehicle, while a common customer gets a discount of up to Rs 10 lakh.
He raised the question, where did this amount of about Rs 14.5 crore go? And whose pocket did it go into? Sirsa has demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter.
Sirsa raised questions on the purchase of vehicles
BJP leader Sirsa said- Cash payments were allegedly made in this purchase, but no exemption has been shown in the documents. This raises suspicion that the government treasury has been directly harmed. He also questioned the silence of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and DGP and said that this is deepening the suspicion among the people.
Sirsa demanded that Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal to take strict action against the culprits by maintaining transparency in this matter. If the government does not take action soon, he will take the matter to the central agencies. He also warned that if in future this case goes to the CBI or ED, then the government should not call it ‘political revenge’.
It is worth noting that two days ago, Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira had also raised questions on this purchase process and demanded an investigation into it. Now the opposition is trying to corner the government on this issue by uniting.
