Punjab stubble burning cases: Tally of the season crosses 10,000

The number of stubble-burning cases in Punjab has crossed 10,000. A total of 10104 incidents of stubble burning have been reported in this season till November 20. A total of 179 cases were reported on November 20, of which Sangrur and Ferozepur reported the highest number of 26 cases each. Apart from this, 20 cases have been reported in Muktsar, 15 in Tarn Taran, 14 in Faridkot and 10 in Fazilka.

In comparison, the total incidents of stubble burning till November 20 were 35093 and 49283 in 2023 and 2022 respectively and if we talk about November 20 only, while only 179 cases were reported in 2024, in 2023 and 2022 this figure was 634 and 368 respectively.

Chief Minister’s district Sangrur is leading with 1647 cases of stubble burning till November 18 during this season in Punjab. Ferozepur is second with 1189 cases, Tarn Taran is third with 802 cases, Amritsar is fourth with 703 cases. The cases of stubble burning are 670 in Bathinda, 668 in Muktsar, 596 in Moga, 560 in Mansa, 536 in Patiala, 470 in Faridkot, 321 in Kapurthala, 246 in Ludhiana, 233 in Fazilka.

According to PPCB Chairman Adarsh ​​Paul Vig, stubble-burning cases are to be monitored till November 30 in Punjab. Now the cases of stubble burning have started to decrease. Compared to previous years, this time the cases are likely to be 70 percent less. All this is the result of hard work of employees and officials of different departments. Farmers have also become more aware than before. There is every hope that stubble burning will stop in Punjab in the next few years.
