Chandigarh: There is a yellow alert for rain at some places in Punjab today (July 23). Moderate to heavy rain is likely at most places in four districts during this period. These districts include Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, and Mohali, which border Himachal.
The average maximum temperature today has increased by 1.3 degrees compared to yesterday. However, it has been recorded 4.5 degrees below the normal temperature of the state. The highest temperature recorded was 35 degrees in Abohar.
Along with this, 50 mm of rain has been recorded in Pathankot and 31 mm of rain has been recorded in Ludhiana. The Meteorological Department has issued rain and thunderstorm warnings at 29 places till 8 am.
Moderate Rain predicted
The Meteorological Department has issued rain warnings till 8.30 am. During this period, moderate rain is likely to occur in Lehra, Sunam, Sangrur, Barnala, Dhuri, Ferozepur, Zira, Patti, Tarn Taran, and Amritsar, accompanied by lightning and strong winds that can reach speeds of 30 to 40 km per hour.
While light rain is likely in Budhlada, Malerkotla, Moonak, Patra, Muktsar Sahib, Jalalabad, Bagha Purana, Faridkot, Moga, Ferozepur, Zira, Shahkot, Patti, Sultanpur Lodhi, Tarn Taran, Khadoor Sahib, Amritsar and Ajnala.
Heavy rain predicted
According to the Chandigarh Meteorological Department Center, there is a possibility of 75 to 100% moderate to heavy rain at most places in Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar and Mohali districts today.
There is a possibility of 50 to 75% light to moderate rainfall at many places in 7 districts. These places include Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib and Patiala districts.
While there is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall at some places in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Moga, Barnala, Sangrur and Mansa districts. There is a possibility of rainfall in 25 to 50 percent of the area. Along with this, there is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall at various places in Faridkot, Fazilka, Muktsar and Bathinda. There is a possibility of rainfall in 25 percent of the area.
