Punjab Weather Update: Monsoon reaches Punjab before time, rain alert till June 26

The monsoon, which was stuck in Himachal, has now moved ahead and entered Punjab via Pathankot on Sunday. With this, it rained in many districts of Punjab, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Pathankot, and Ferozepur. This is the fourth time in the last 24 years when the monsoon has reached Punjab before time. Talking about last year, there was 28 percent less rainfall, 314.6 mm.

After the rain, the day temperature in Punjab has decreased by an average of 0.7 degrees Celsius. Even now the temperature remains 3.3 degrees below normal.

Bathinda was the hottest on Sunday, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 39.0 ° C. By 5:30 pm, 49 mm of rain was recorded in Ludhiana, 39 mm in Amritsar, 5 mm in Pathankot and 1 mm in Ferozepur.

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding rain in Punjab till June 26.

23 June: No warning in most of Punjab, but light watch in Pathankot, Amritsar, Nawanshahr and some other districts.

24 June: Thunderstorm warning in most districts, especially in Ferozepur, Fazilka, Mohali, Nawanshahr, Hoshiarpur etc.

25 June: Heavy to very heavy rain likely in many districts of North and East Punjab. Caution warning issued in these districts.

26 June: Light to moderate thunderstorm and rain warning across Punjab.
