The weather is expected to remain normal in Punjab for the next 72 hours, and the Meteorological Department has not issued any rain alert at present. The monsoon has weakened in the state since July 7, resulting in less than normal rainfall recorded so far this month.
In the last 24 hours, light rain occurred at some places, due to which a slight increase in temperature has been observed. According to the Meteorological Department, the average temperature of Punjab has increased by 1.2 degrees, although it remains 2.1 degrees below normal.
Sri Anandpur Sahib recorded the highest temperature of 36.3 degrees, while Amritsar recorded 31 degrees, Ludhiana 32.4, Patiala 32.6, Pathankot 34.1 and Bathinda 32.8 degrees.
Till 5:30 pm last evening, Fazilka recorded 18.5 mm, Amritsar 17.8 mm, Ferozepur 9 mm, Pathankot 2 mm, Ludhiana 1.8 mm and Moga 1.5 mm rain.
23% more rain than normal was recorded in June. However, in July, the monsoons continue to weaken. Since July 7, rain is below normal. If we talk about July 1 to July 17, the state has received 84.1 mm rain, whereas the normal rainfall is 86.2 mm. That means 2% less rain is being seen in July.
