Punjab Weather Update: Orange alert for fog and cold in 11 districts, rain likely in coming days

Chandigarh: An alert has been issued regarding fog in Punjab today (Saturday). Along with fog, a cold wave warning has also been issued in many areas. After 48 hours of dry weather, the sun shone yesterday afternoon. People got slight relief from the cold wave due to an increase of about 1 degree in temperature. But still, the temperature of the state remains below 20 degrees.

According to the Meteorological Department, there will not be much change in the temperature of Punjab in the coming 48 hours. But, after that, an increase of 2 to 3 degrees can be seen in the temperature of Punjab.

An orange alert has been issued regarding fog in 10 districts of Punjab. There is an orange alert regarding fog in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Barnala, Mansa, Sangrur, Patiala and Malerkotla, while a yellow alert has been issued for fog in all other districts.

Cold wave alert has been issued in 11 districts of Punjab. An orange alert of the cold wave has been issued in Mansa and Barnala Whereas, a yellow alert of cold wave has been issued in Rupnagar, Bathinda, Moga, Muktsar, Faridkot, Fazilka, Ferozepur, Nawanshahr, Hoshiarpur.

There are chances of rain in Punjab once again. According to the Meteorological Department, a new western disturbance is becoming active from January 18. Its effect will be seen in the hilly areas from January 19. But there are chances of rain in some areas of Punjab on January 21 and 22.

So far, normal rain has occurred in Punjab after January 1. According to the Meteorological Department, an average of 9.2 mm of rain has occurred since January 1. So far, 8.3 degrees of rain has fallen in Punjab, which is 9 percent less than normal.
