Punjab Weather update: Temperature will cross 45 degrees today; Red alert issued for 2 days

Jalandhar : With the onset of Nautapa, the temperature has started rising once again in Punjab. There was an increase of 1.1 degrees in the average temperature of the state in 24 hours.

The Meteorological Department has issued orange alert today and red alert for the next two days. Today the temperature in Punjab will once again cross 45 degrees. At the same time, Punjab has signed a power agreement with Kerala, which will provide some relief.

According to the information shared by the Meteorological Department, Orange Alert has been issued in all 23 districts of Punjab on the second day of Nautapa. On Monday, red alert has been issued in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Firozpur, Fazilka, Muktsar, Faridkot, Moga, Bathinda, Barnala and Mansa of Punjab. The temperature here may cross 46 degrees on Sunday.

Red alert warning has been issued in Punjab for two days at present. If the mercury rises further, it is estimated that all previous records may be broken this year.

Kerala will give relief to Punjab

Electricity consumption decreased in Kerala due to heavy rains in summer. Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) will return the surplus power purchased through tender to Punjab State Power Corporation. Kerala Electricity Minister K. Krishnankutty’s office said on Friday, May 24 that Punjab will return electricity to Kerala during the summer season of 2025.

Punjab will refund an additional 5% for power supplied by Kerala. This power exchange agreement will be effective from April 1 to April 30, 2025.

Know the temperature of cities of Punjab

Amritsar– The maximum temperature recorded yesterday was 43.4 degrees. Chance of crossing 44 degrees today.

Jalandhar– Saturday maximum temperature recorded 39.1 degrees. There are chances of reaching 45 degrees today.

Ludhiana– The maximum temperature was recorded at 42.2 degrees last evening. Today the temperature is expected to be around 44 degrees.

Patiala– Saturday maximum temperature was recorded at 43.6 degrees. Today the temperature is expected to cross 44 degrees.

Mohali– Last evening the temperature was recorded at 41.6 degrees. Today the temperature is expected to reach 29.2 degrees.
