Punjab Weather Update: Yellow alert in Punjab for fog and cold

A yellow alert has been issued in Punjab today regarding fog and cold wave. But the effect of fog and cold will be limited to today only. There is a possibility of relief from cold in the morning from January 29 and the temperature may increase by 2 to 3 degrees.

According to the Meteorological Department, two western disturbances are becoming active on January 29 and January 1. The effect of which will be seen in the hilly area. According to the information released by the Meteorological Center, a cold wave alert has been issued in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Faridkot, and Moga of Punjab today.

At the same time, dense fog is expected in SAS Nagar, Patiala, Rupnagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Nawanshahr, Hoshiarpur, Tarn Taran, Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Pathankot. According to the Meteorological Department, this alert will remain till today only. From January 29, the temperature may increase by 3 degrees and people are expected to get relief from the cold wave.

Western disturbance is getting active from the night of 29 January. It will affect the mountains of Himachal. Its mild effect can also be seen in the plains. After the activation of this western disturbance, there is a possibility of rain and drizzle in the plains of Punjab on 30 and 31 January and 1 February.

Whereas, the second western disturbance is getting active from 1 February. Its effect will also be seen the most in the hilly areas. During this time, an increase in the minimum temperature is possible.
