Chandigarh: The weather has changed in Punjab and Chandigarh. Due to the activation of Western disturbance, it has been raining intermittently in many areas since night. While for today (Sunday), the Meteorological Department has predicted rain at some places in Tarn Taran, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Hoshiarpur and Nawanshahr.
While an orange alert for dense fog has been issued at some places in 23 districts. In the last 24 hours, the maximum temperature of the state has increased by 1.5 degrees. However, it has been recorded 2.6 degrees below the normal temperature.
The maximum temperature at most places has been between 11.7 degrees and 19.4 degrees. The highest temperature has been recorded in Mohali at 19.4 degrees. While the temperature in Chandigarh has been 18.9 degrees. However, the minimum temperature in Gurdaspur on Saturday was recorded at 3.8 degrees.
Orange alert for dense fog in 12 districts
Due to snowfall in the mountains, cold wave, cold day and fog conditions are developing in Punjab. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for fog in 12 districts of Punjab today. These districts include Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Moga, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Barnala, Mansa, Sangrur and Malerkotla.
While there is a yellow alert for fog in Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala and Mohali. However, the weather is expected to clear from January 16. While there is no rain alert from the 13th.
On the other hand, rain has been recorded in three districts in the last 24 hours. The highest rainfall has been recorded in Faridkot at 10.0 mm. 6.0 mm of rain has been recorded in Fazilka and 1.0 mm in Ferozepur. However, no rain has been recorded in any other district. It has rained from morning to night in these areas.
Rain is good for crops
Agricultural scientists of Punjabi Agricultural University, Ludhiana say that rain and cold are good for crops. Especially the wheat crop will germinate well. In such a situation, production is also likely to be good. Limited rain is good for mustard, carrot, spinach and pea vegetables. But if fog accumulates then it is harmful for these crops.
