Rain likely in 12 districts of Punjab today, Winds will blow at 60 kmph

People of Punjab and Chandigarh have got some relief from the heat. The temperature of the state has dropped by 4.9 degrees in the last 24 hours. Now the temperature has reached close to normal. Bathinda was the hottest in the state, where a temperature of 42.2 degrees was recorded.

Today, light to moderate rain is expected in 12 districts. At the same time, a yellow alert of thunderstorm has been issued in six districts Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Mohali and Patiala.

Winds are likely to blow at a speed of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour in these areas. While lightning will also flash. The temperature of Chandigarh has dropped by 4 degrees, due to which it has now reached 37.7 degrees. At the same time, there is no heat wave alert till the 20th and the series of rains will continue.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain is expected at some places in Rupnagar, Mohali, Patiala, Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ludhiana, Barnala, Sangrur, Mansa and Bathinda districts.

At the same time, thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds (speed 40-50 kmph) are likely at some places in Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, SAS Nagar (Mohali) and Patiala districts.

According to the Meteorological Department, there will be no major change in the maximum temperature in the state for the next 24 hours. After this, there is a possibility of gradual drop of 3-5 degrees Celsius. Light to moderate rain may occur at isolated places on 15th, 17th and 18th, while at some places on 19th and 20th. Thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds (speed 40-50 kmph) are likely at isolated places from 16th to 21st.
