Mohali: In its ongoing efforts to increase voter turnout in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections-2024, District Administration Mohali has decided to provide the voluntary services of Rapido (Ropan Transportation Services Pvt Ltd) for free transportation of disabled and senior citizen voters.
Giving information, Deputy Commissioner Ms. Ashika Jain, who herself is leading the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign in the district, said that Rapido has informed the Chief Electoral Officer of Punjab, Mr. Sibin C, on Election Day to offer their services for transporting elderly voters to and from polling booths.
CEO of Punjab has given its consent to the proposal submitted by Rapido and asked the five districts to consider using the services on Election Day.
Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Jain thanked the Chief Electoral Officer of Punjab for considering SAS Nagar (Mohali) district as one of the beneficiary districts to offer Rapido and said that the free transport services provided by Rapido would be helpful for those voters.
Other districts of Punjab that have been included in Rapido’s offer include Patiala, Jalandhar, Amritsar and Ludhiana.
