Re-election to be held in 8 Panchayats of 4 districts in Punjab, date to be announced soon

Chandigarh: Violence, booth capturing and other flaws were seen in many places during the Panchayat elections in Punjab on Tuesday. After receiving reports from the Deputy Commissioners (DC) of the districts, the Election Commission has decided to re-conduct the Panchayat elections in 8 Panchayats of 4 districts. However, the date of re-election has not been announced. A decision will be taken soon in this regard. The places where re-election is being held include 8 Panchayats of Mansa, Ferozepur, Moga and Patiala districts.

Re-elections will be held here

According to the information received from the Election Commission, elections for the post of Sarpanch and 5 posts will be held again in Panchayat Mansa Khurd of district Mansa. Similarly, Panchayat elections will be held again in village Lohke Khurd of Ferozepur. Orders have been given for re-polling in polling booth number 118 and 119 of Panchayat Kotla Mehar Singh Wala of district Moga. It has been decided to hold re-elections in Village Khudda Block (Sangrur), Village Panchayat Kheti Raju Block Bhunerheri and Village Panchayat Karim Nagar of District Patiala.

Similarly, the Election Commission has ordered that the election of Village Panchayat Lakhmir Ke Uttar, Block Madmot District Ferozepur will be canceled because voters had difficulty in voting.

Apart from this, the Commission has postponed the election of two Panchayats due to the death of candidates. These include Village Panchayat Langomahal Block Ramdas and Village Panchayat Kallu Sohal Block Kahnuwan.
