Chandigarh: After the defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, a meeting of the district heads of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) was called in Chandigarh. This meeting was chaired by party chief Sukhbir Singh Badal.
While the weakening of the party was reviewed in the meeting, Sukhbir Badal’s decision of not forming an alliance with the BJP was also appreciated.
In this meeting of the Akali Dal, the district heads of the party alleged that the government is conspiring to make the Panth and Punjab leaderless. The chiefs said that the BJP and agencies are behind the attempts to weaken or break the Shiromani Akali Dal.
The BJP has tried to weaken the Akali Dal from within by forming a parallel party to the Akali Dal. The BJP was accused of trying to break the Akali Dal and form a parallel party, but the people rejected it.
Principles are above politics
The party presidents also praised Sukhbir Badal’s decision. He said that Sukhbir Badal put principles above politics. Refusing to form an alliance with the BJP is extremely principled. The district presidents praised Sukhbir Singh Badal’s firm and principled leadership.
Advised not to be disheartened
Sukhbir Badal advised the leaders not to be disheartened by the party’s defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. Sukhbir Badal said that disheartened leaders should learn from Maharashtra. The BJP broke the regional party but the people rejected the dummy creation.
