Amritsar: The committee appointed by Sri Akal Takht Sahib to start the membership drive of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has reached Amritsar on Tuesday. The committee has offered prayers at Sri Akal Takht Sahib in the Golden Temple and now the membership drive is to be started by the members. However, the working committee of the Akali Dal has forbidden them from doing so.
The rebel Akali Dal group has also reached Sri Akal Takht Sahib in support of the recruitment committee. Former Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee chief Bibi Jagir Kaur attacked the Akali Dal Working Committee. She said that if the Akali Dal is recruiting then it is not according to the rules of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. The membership drive being run by the recruitment committee is correct. It is possible that the Working Committee wants to form its own separate party.
The Akali Dal Working Committee has raised questions on the recruitment committee formed by Sri Akal Takht Sahib. Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema has alleged that two working members Harjinder Singh Dhami and Prof. Kripal Singh have resigned. Others are working at the behest of Delhi.
He pointed out the shortcomings in the form issued by the recruitment committee. He said that even the name of Shiromani Akali Dal was not written in full on the form. Akali Dal is written at one place, but the recruitment committee should tell when and where the Akali Dal was registered.
Where will the committee deposit the money
Dr. Cheema said that the form mentions a 5-member Akali Dal committee, but a 7-member committee was formed by the Akali Dal. Shiromani Akali Dal spokesperson Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema alleged that if this committee is recruiting, then why were the addresses and phone numbers not given on the form. Not only this, where will the committee deposit the money it collects?
Akali Dal had given responsibilities to the committee members
Dr. Cheema had said that the Working Committee had already informed the former Jathedar about the challenges. If the Akali Dal recruits on the basis of religion, then the recognition of the opposition party can be cancelled. On which the Akal Takht had also asked the committee to hold talks. The Akali Dal had given posts to all the recruitment committee members in the recruitment campaign, but they did not agree.
