Schools and colleges to remain closed on May 8 in Amritsar

Deputy Commissioner Amritsar Mrs. Sakshi Sahni, while holding a meeting regarding the situation arising after the Indo-Pak tension in the district, directed to declaration of a holiday on May 8 in schools, colleges, and other educational institutions. She said that after this, a decision will be taken after reviewing the situation.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration is ready to deal with any situation. Taking note of the queues of people at petrol pumps, grocery shops and ATMs during this tension, she said that there is no shortage of essential commodities in the district, including oil, cooking gas, medicines and ration.

Therefore, people should not promote black marketing by hoarding these commodities without thinking. She warned those who hoard essential commodities and black marketing that strict action will be taken against anyone found doing so.

She also appealed to the residents of the district not to act on the rumors being spread through social media and unnecessary advice being given. He said that every information, news or advice should be verified and acted upon thoroughly and only then should it be shared further. He said that an atmosphere of panic should not be created among the common people by sharing such news or advice without thinking.
