Amritsar: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has called an emergency meeting of its interim committee on December 23. According to information, this meeting has been convened amidst news of dissatisfaction from the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Raghbir Singh. It remains to be seen whether the decisions made in the recent interim committee meeting will stand or if they will be altered.
Sources suggest that another significant decision may be taken in this meeting. It was recently reported that the Jathedar was unhappy with the SGPC’s decisions, which led to the emergency meeting being scheduled.
It is noteworthy that the interim committee’s meeting of the SGPC was held recently at Gurdwara Sri Degsar Katana Sahib in Doraha. The meeting was chaired by SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami.
During this session, discussions were held regarding the allegations made by Giani Harpreet Singh against Gurpreet Singh Sandhu. A three-member committee has been formed to investigate the matter, consisting of Raghujit Singh Virk, Daljit Bhinder, and Sher Singh Mand.
The committee has been instructed to complete the investigation within 15 days, and during this time, Giani Harpreet Singh was relieved of his duties as the Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib.
