SGPC executive rejected Pradhan Dhami’s resignation: asked to reconsider, meeting to held again soon

Amritsar: The executive of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has rejected the resignation of Pradhan Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami. The executive made it clear that a meeting will be held with Pradhan Dhami soon and he will be asked to reconsider his decision. A meeting will soon be called in a few days to review the functioning of the SGPC.

SGPC Chief Secretary Kulwant Singh Mann, citing Act 1925, said that the organization can take a decision to remove Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh of Sri Damdama Sahib. He will soon meet Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh of Sri Akal Takht Sahib regarding this Act.

Former Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh has called this resignation unfortunate. He said that it is clear from Giani Raghbir Singh’s post that he is giving the reason for his (Harpreet Singh) removal from the post. Giani Harpreet Singh was removed by the SGPC about 10 days ago.

Dhami said – there was a discussion for one and a half hour to remove Harpreet

Dhami had said at the time of his resignation that on the day the decision to remove Giani Harpreet Singh was taken, 14 executive members were together and a discussion took place for one and a half hours. Everyone was given one and a half hours to speak. So that no one’s opinion is left out, but the Pradhan is the maikn person. Therefore, on moral grounds, I resign from this post. May Guru Sahib bless me.

He said that SGPC is the administrative body of Sikhs and Sri Akal Takht Sahib is the head (high) Takht of Sikhs. Shiromani Akali Dal is also an organization of this Takht.
