SGPC executives rejects Dhami’s resignation; members to visit his home to convince him

Chandigarh: The executive of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) met in Chandigarh today (March 17). The resignation of Chief Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami was rejected in the meeting. It was also decided that all the members of the committee will go to his house today and try to convince him to resume his responsibilities.

After the meeting, the committee members gave this information in a press conference. They said that apart from this issue, no other decision was taken in the meeting. The committee hopes that Dhami will withdraw his resignation. This was the first meeting of SGPC after the removal of Jathedars.

It is necessary for the Pradhan to be present in the budget session

Many senior Akali Dal leaders have already met Dhami at his residence, but he refused to withdraw his resignation. The committee members believe that Dhami’s tenure has been successful.

On the other hand, if experts are to be believed, the budget session of SGPC is going to be held on March 28, and according to the Gurudwara Act, the head has to preside over it. In such a situation, it is clear that Dhami will have to preside over it. It is expected that he will agree to the committee’s decision today.

Sant Tek Singh Dhanaula did not take responsibility

New Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Gadgaj appointed by SGPC has taken over his duties as the Acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib. At the same time, Jathedar Sant Tek Singh Dhanaula appointed for Sri Damdama Sahib has not taken over his duties yet.
