MBBS student from Haryana hangs herself in Chandigarh hostel

Chandigarh: Shruti Tyagi, an MBBS student from Haryana, committed suicide by hanging herself at Chandigarh Medical College-32 (GMCH) on Monday night at around 10:45 pm. On receiving the information, the Sector-34 police station reached the spot and took the body to the hospital. A 2-page suicide note has also been found near the student.

In the suicide note, the student wrote, ‘I want to apologize to everyone. Mummy, Papa, and Didi, I am not able to adjust myself. My mind is eating me up. Therefore, I cannot bear this for much longer. I apologize to all of you for this.’

Late in the evening, Shruti Tyagi’s body was handed over to her family after a postmortem at Sector-32 hospital. Her family has left for Jagadhri with the body. The last rites of the deceased will be performed in Jagadhari itself.

The deceased has been identified as Shruti Tyagi, a resident of Jagadhari (Haryana). She lived in Hostel No. 4 of Sector-32 Medical College. The deceased’s father has been working in Dubai for about 15 years. Her mother is a housewife who lives in Dubai itself.

Shruti’s elder sister Neha works as a doctor in a private hospital in Pune, Maharashtra. Her uncle lives here in Jagadhari. Shruti lived with him.

Other students living in the hostel said that on Monday, Shruti was not picking up anyone’s phone, so we went to her room and saw. They were shocked to see the scene there. Shruti was lying on the ground in an unconscious state. There was a piece of rope around her neck, and half of it was hanging on the fan.

They informed the GMCH administration about this. Then the police were informed about the incident. The police have started investigating the matter. At the same time, the student’s family has also been informed. The postmortem of the student’s body will be done today.

A student of the hostel said that when she saw Shruti’s body in the room with her friends, panic spread in the entire hostel. After this, all the students started talking to their families about it. The information is that the families of many students are coming to the hostel tomorrow to meet their children. Some students are so nervous that they do not want to stay in this hostel anymore.

After getting information about this incident, the hospital administration talked to other students living in the hostel. Seeing their nervousness, the administration has assured them full security. At the same time, security has been increased on the way from hostel number 1 to 4. Hotel security personnel have been deployed there.

No one is allowed to go there right now. At the same time, strict instructions have also been given to the hostel warden by the hospital administration to listen to everything of the other students living in the hostel so that they do not feel any kind of fear.
