Shubkaran’s sister Gurpreet Kaur joins Punjab Police, will be on duty in Bathinda

Gurpreet Kaur, sister of young farmer Shubhkaran Singh, who was killed in the farmers’ struggle on the Haryana border over MSP guarantee for crops, has joined the Punjab Police. Days back she was given appointment letter by CM Mann himself.

She reached Bathinda Police Line today with her father. The Punjab government gave her an appointment in the police department just two days ago. His family was also given cheque of Rs 1 crore as financial assistance.

On this occasion after joining the job, she said that the Punjab government has fulfilled its promise. However, she said that this happiness would have been double for her if her brother Shubhkaran was alive.

At the same time, she has demanded that justice should be given in the legal matter. The loss of Shubhkaran in the family cannot be compensated.

The farmers of Punjab have been struggling for MSP of crops since February. Farmer Shubhkaran died on 21 February at Khanauri border. At that time it was said that Shubhkaran died due to police firing. The committee formed on the orders of the High Court has told the court that Shubhkaran died from a shotgun. However, the police do not fire shotguns.
