The incidents of stubble burning are increasing continuously in Punjab. Its effect is being seen in Chandigarh along with Punjab. So far 5299 cases have been registered in Punjab. Out of which 3162 cases were registered in the last 10 days only. Despite strictness in Punjab, it is becoming difficult to stop it. A team is reaching Punjab on 13 November to look into these arrangements.
Due to the burning of stubble not stopping in Punjab, Chandigarh has reached the red zone. While 5 districts of Punjab are on orange alert. Chandigarh’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 325 and maximum 408 on Saturday midnight. At the same time, the highest AQI of 280 was recorded in Mandi Gobindgarh of Punjab, while the maximum was 360. AQI in Amritsar was 240, while the maximum reached 312. Similarly, the average AQI of Bathinda is 170, Jalandhar 173, Khanna 202, Ludhiana 216, Patiala 148 and Rupnagar 225.
After the strictness of the Supreme Court, a team is coming from the Center to investigate stubble management in Punjab. This team will be in Punjab on November 13. Here this team will talk to the Pollution Control, Environment and Agriculture Department and investigate their efforts. In fact, even after the strictness, the incidents of stubble burning in Punjab are not stopping.
The highest number of cases of stubble burning in Punjab have been registered in Sangrur. Where 887 FIRs have been registered. At the same time, 633 cases were registered in Amritsar and 612 in Tarn Taran.
